Applications are open now through May 28 for the second annual Science of Innovation Summit for Journalists. The Summit will take place on the University of Chicago campus between Oct. 28-31, 2018.

The goal of the summit is to expose participating journalists to the scientific breakthroughs and inventions that are already beginning to change our lives and those that will help us to confront the most important problems of our time. Areas include advanced batteries, quantum computing, neuroscience, immunotherapies, microbiome-based treatments, precision medicine and renewable fuels. Curriculum for the program is developed based on input from the journalists.

The University will cover meals, lodging and transportation to and from Chicago, the latter via a stipend, for all participating journalists.

The program is hosted by the University of Chicago Office of Research, Innovation and National Laboratories and the Polsky Center. It is sponsored in part by the Cards Against Humanity Science Ambassador Scholarship, which annually awards a full-ride to college for a young woman in STEM.
